Situated one mile from the magnificent Northumberland coast on the banks of the River Coquet lies the traditional market village of Warkworth. Nestled in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty this picturesque village is home to the majestic Warkworth Castle, which dominates the skyline. Now owned by English Heritage, this was once home to the Percy family, and the castle's rich history is featured in Shakespeare's 'Henry IV'. In the summer hire a boat and row out on the River to the Warkworth Hermitage, a unique 14th-century chapel carved out of the rock face which is only accessible via boat.
