Accessed via five steps, the raised ground floor opens into a spacious open plan living and dining area, ideal for spending time together after a day exploring Devon. The living room is comfortably furnished with deep leather sofas around a 43” Smart TV, Bluetooth speaker, and a welcoming log-burning stove (logs provided). The adjoining modern galley kitchen has been recently refurbished and is well equipped with an induction hob and oven, microwave, dishwasher, two larder fridges (one with freezer compartment), and a washing machine. Please note: due to its stepped access and layout across multiple levels, extra caution is advised. At the rear of the cottage, a private raised sun deck with charcoal barbecue provides a wonderful setting for outdoor dining and relaxation. Just a few yards up the track, guests have use of an additional private lawned garden area exclusive to the cottage. With thermostatically controlled electric heating and stylish, comfortable interiors, Freedom Cottage offers a welcoming home-from-home atmosphere, a peaceful yet well-connected base for discovering the beauty of the Devon countryside. Every comfort has been thoughtfully considered at Freedom Cottage to ensure a seamless and relaxing stay.
Families are well catered for, with a cot and highchair available on request, and there is a shared playground on-site. For convenience, a payphone is located in the foyer of the indoor swimming pool building. Outside, guests can unwind in the private enclosed garden and patio, complete with outdoor furniture and a barbecue for relaxed dining in the fresh country air. Shared Parking is available on site, along with electric vehicle charging also at this site. The indoor swimming pool complex is at this site, each property has scheduled private access on a rota provided by the owners prior to arrival.
Sleeping from 6 to 28 guests, the cottages can be combined to accommodate larger groups. For an extra touch, you can even book an in-house chef to handle your catering.

Both Dartmoor National Park and the historic city of Exeter are just a 20-minute drive away, while the South Devon Coast and its sandy beaches are only 3 miles. Nearby, you’ll find Exeter and Newton Abbot Racecourses, golf courses, family theme parks, zoos, sailing, and fishing, as well as Devon’s famous pubs and restaurants. Walk the wild beauty of Dartmoor, visit nearby National Trust properties (including Agatha Christie’s Greenway), or enjoy a steam train journey from Kingswear to Paignton or Totnes to Buckfastleigh. Explore historic Dartmouth with its harbour, castle, galleries, and the spectacular Regatta Week and Air Show. Salcombe, Blackpool Sands, Slapton, and Dittisham are all within easy reach, while East Cornwall and the Eden Project are less than an hour’s drive away. Adventurers can also try Rock Solid Coasteering along the Jurassic Coastline.
